Deep under the bowels of London

Under the tube station at Knightsbridge I found a rather spiffy club! Quiet though.

I hope to have these slideshow viewers done soon

Still a load more RL stuff to get done first, then I'll hook these babies up for blogHUD users. ;) Nice and smooth slideshows - flickr too!

Oooh look ! A new HUD! ;)

I just made a little HUD to post to twitter. Let me know if you want a go of one. It's pretty simple so far and doesn't list posts from your friends yet. This will no doubt find its way into the blogHUD for the next version if there's enough interest. ;)

Free Land for the Masses? GeoTown?

Since hearing about the removal of 'First Land' - the heavily discounted 512m squared plots which users could buy for L$512 - I worry about how easy it is for newcomers to get 'engaged' in this world.

Very much like the early days of the world wide web, around 1994, when it took quite a bit of geekery to get anything on the web, eventually companies like GeoCities popped up to make it easy to get a web page up on the internet - for FREE : if you could

So, I wonder - are there any places like this in Second Life? Places where newcomers can bed down for a while to get a feel for the advantages of 'having a home' on the Grid.

Maybe this lack of First Land might stop the ugly 'Ghettos' which appear rapidly around First Land areas, which can also put off newcomers, I suppose. They really can be a mess. The thing is, this 'chaos' can also be the alluring this about SL.

Would a 'free hosting' - 'free land' business work in SL, if it was propped up financially by obnoxious ads? ;)

It's coming again! "yay!"

Just to let you all know that I am working on getting the new Blogger accounts working here. Google really have not made it easy, which is why it has been taking a while to get my head around it all ;)

I think I just had a minor breakthrough in understanding how they need it to all work, but now I have to work out which bits to encrypt and how. And I have to generate something called a 'nonce'. Which is kinda funny.

While researching how to provide support for these Google accounts, I asked an employee : Q: will the users be asked to move? Or forced to move to the new system?

To which he replied : 'Force' is such a strong word. But the movement from old Blogger to new Blogger is not optional.

Well, if he doesn't make it in GoogleLand, he can always try his hand at being a politician ;)
